In 1873, our three founders chose the greek letters Delta and Gamma because of their desire to “Do Good”, which remains our motto today. The Delta Gamma Foundation fosters lifetime enrichment for members, promotes Service for Sight, and partners with the Fraternity to ensure the future of our sisterhood.
Our philanthropy has been at the heart of the Delta Gamma mission since 1936, when a member who was blind, Ruth Billow, Eta-Akron, petitioned to adopt “Aid to the Blind” as our official philanthropy. Since then, the Fraternity has supported the philanthropy that has now become Service for Sight. Service for Sight supports the five schools founded by Delta Gammas for children who are visually impaired and other North American organizations that promote sight preservation and conservation.

ANCHORSPLASH
Today, Delta Gamma helps our philanthropy Service for Sight through our favorite week of the year, Anchorsplash! Every fall, we have the opportunity to host the most widely participated, week-long philanthropy event on our campus! Our members have the opportunity to coach the participating organizations in events such as the volleyball tournament, Captain of the Deeg Pageant, Soak a DG day, and our favorite day of the week, Anchorgames, consisting of relay races, a belly flop competition, and synchronized swimming. We love that we have this opportunity to raise money and awareness for Service for Sight with our campus!
SPRING PHILANTHROPY
In recent years, Gamma Alpha has hosted various philanthropy events in the spring semester. In the spring of 2023, Gamma Alpha held our first flag football tournament, Anchorbowl! We also held our first ever Slices for Sight in 2023, where we welcomed the community into our home for a pizza dinner and dessert. We have so much fun sharing these events with the Tennessee community all while raising money for Service for Sight!!!
